Cycligent is proud to announce Jernst Tempelaar who will be competing at CVR World Cup Paris.
Jernst, a 33-year-old resident of Nijmegen, started cycling when he was 21.
Shortly after he began cycling, he obtained his racing license and raced a few times a year. According to Tempelaar, in the Netherlands, there are almost only crit races for amateurs, which are not his specialty. In 2009, he completed in his first Gran Fondo and became hooked.
About 3 years ago, he decided to give up every other activity (soccer, field hockey, tennis, golf, speed skating) and make cycling his only sport. In the summer of 2015, he got decent results by just missing podiums in the mountains.
He weighed roughly 75kg at that time, which was way heavier than the other riders, so he decided it was time for a change. Jernst was convinced that if he was lighter and better trained, he could compete.
In 2015, he discovered Zwift and immediately started structured training and dietary programs. Zwift helped him become strong enough to race in both the ZTR Europe races every week.
